The difference between Grid-tied, off-grid, and hybrid solar systems?
Grid-tied: DC electricity generated by the solar panels will be converted into AC electricity by the heard of the solar system" inverter". The electricity will be used to feed homeappliances first, then the surplus energy exported to the grid in return for making money or save bill, this is the only type of system do not require battery.
Off-grid: Also called stand alone system, commonly used for tural area which are lack of stable grid power, to ensure access to electricity at all times, off- grid system require battery bank for backup.
The biggest difference to on grid is there is no grid access, surplus power could not export to utility grid.
Hybrid solar systems is the combination for grid-tied and off-grid solar systems.The power from solar panel is first used to service the home loads, then charge the solar battery. If there is still a surplus of solar energy, it will be exported to the electric grid in return for credits.
